STREAM OF BEING UNCONSCIOUS

"How long a minute is depends upon which side of the bathroom door you are".

I'm sure my brothers and my kids would agree.

Nobody asked but:

I was encouraged by the recent Supreme Court decision on Healthcare reform.

Not necessarily by all the ramifications that will come and still have to be ironed out. But, by the logic of Justice Roberts and the crack in the door contained in his  majority opinion  that suggests maybe - some day - Congress will find a way to get off their political duffs -put  on their thinking caps - and once again see the wisdom of compromise.

Roberts, a noted conservative jurist - appointed by George W - without the vote of then Senator Obama - managed to look toward the common good as opposed to espousing a narrow minded philosophy that has taken on the aspects of a boiler plate..

The concern I've had - ever since "United" - was that our Supreme Court would merely be a mirror for the parties in power who put them there and fail to practice the independent thinking that would make the drafters of our Constitution proud and upon which we relied as a fairly reliable sign of the needed balance of power.

The picture of the scales of justice - naturally  appeals to one whose birth sign - the "suspect" Astrologists would have you believe depends upon same throughout his life and impacts the decisions he makes.

I plead guilty.

"Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once."

Once again some members of the media got the hottest news "wrong". This time it was CNN & our friends over at the Republican Broadcasting Company.

Perhaps the line above about "mistakes"  clarifies why our news sources are so willing to communicate untruths solely based upon their desire to be the first with the "scoop".

A  few less scoops would be better for their reputation as well as my waistline. The fact that their legal representatives tried to spin their oversight by saying it was a natural mistake - scares the hell out of me.

"If Walmart is lowering prices every day how come nothing is free yet?"

There will be a lot written about the $4 billion projected government cost as the result of the court's decision.

Perhaps those critics in Congress can appease their concerns  by re-inviting the head of JPMorgan Chase to appear in front of them once again to now discuss how the alleged $2 billion loss he defended has now escalated to a rumored $9 billion at last count.

C'mon guys and gals - how can you say in good conscience that the rules governing the banks now and in the future (as proposed)  are too restrictive?

"Ever notice that the person who is always late is much jollier than the folks who have to wait for them?"

The same is true for bloggers who don't know when to stop writing.

CREATURES OF HABIT

Each of us have developed daily routines

We are so consistent - we take all the fun out of choosing a career as a hit man for hire.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not feeling I qualify as a sniper target  - especially for anybody who might be willing to pay to eradicate me.

Any fear I might have once had about this threat seldom keeps me awake at night anymore.

Now, before entering The Land Of Nod I tend to concentrate on more important things; like the location of the recently baked chocolate chip cookies.

This is particularly important should I wake up hungry during the night and need to plot a path that will allow me to avoid kicking the dog during my ruminations and quest for unnecessary sustenance

Planning is the key for maintaining a  blossoming waist line.

In  truth, we really are creatures of habit. That is - humans are. Businesses - not so much so.

For us retirees these habits not only includes our favorite breakfast restaurant destination, but the reading material we take along  should we  decide to "go stag".

My daily reading habit - Monday thru Friday - is the well documented USA Today, from which I quote often.  You'll usually see that day's edition  tucked under my arm as I enter the restaurant.

The sports section is no longer the first to be opened after giving the menu a quick glance before always ordering my usual.

That would be the double-American cheese omlette with homefries - but, not the stringy kind. Not nearly enough grease.

Before any of you health nuts get upset - I hasten to report I also usually order the whole wheat toast to balance everything out - and seldom request additional  butter!

Then  I attack the reading  task at hand : the front section and the editorials and opinions contained on the inside back pages.

Hey, I'm still a guy!. But,  one might well ask, "Why is the sports section no longer a priority for you?".

Some things do change.

Due to budgetary cuts - lack of prior advertisers - the general mess of the economy, etc, my USA Today sports reporting staff no longer publishes current sports event results. They now specialize in  "the best sports results coverage of events that occurred the day before yesterday."

Seldom do they disclose anything in sports that occurred even as recently as the previous evening..  Apparently the local edition of their paper goes to bed down here about 6:30. ( That's PM - not AM)

Some might suggest, "So,even if you like the USA editorial pages, why not also order a copy of the local newspaper which will have the latest published sports results?

My response is simple: "I choose to  remain properly cautious as to my S.S income  money reserve  while awaiting the results of any Republicans success in the upcoming elections". The Democrats assure me, "If  the GOP is successful - say goodbye to Social Security."
.
If the economy and the predicted election results go as they seem to be trending I may have to quit all newspaper purchases.

I'll just have to go back to setting the alarm for 4:30 so I can steal the neighbors paper - returning it before he arises - stopping for a chocolate chip cookie on the way- of course..

Some habits die hard.

FRUSTRATION

For over a month I have been locked out of my "disndat"  blog for whom I had a few followers.

With the tremendous help of Russ with Computer Doctors (941 739-3600) here in Bradenton, Fla. I am now able to access not only my main blog - but two others I started out of frustration.

The primary one - started in 2009 - will continue to be my blogger venue in the event that you have saved that location.

Rejoining the blogger race will be a test of these old and dilapidated synapses.

Please bear with me as I try once again to become somewhat computer proficient - even if it is as a member of the remedial class.

Thanks, Barry
